FREE LIFETIME EDUCATION INITIATIVE FOR BLACK COLORADANS
To achieve sustainable racial and multi-generational economic equity in the state.
We call for Free Lifetime Education for all for Black people who are Colorado residents and who meet the eligibility for in-state tuition.
What is Free Lifetime Education?
A Free Lifetime Education guarantees that any Black person who resides in Colorado and meets the requirements for in-state tuition can attend school from Preschool through Higher Education, including reskilling and credentialing, for free in a Colorado public institution or program.
Free Lifetime Education :
- Guarantees no-cost access to state-funded Preschool programs for qualifying Black families by adding race to list of eligibility factors with the Colorado State Preschool Program; and
- Coordinates and supplements existing Federal financial aid as well as existing public and/or private scholarships to ensure that qualifying Black individuals can access higher education — including two-year, four-year, and technical institutions — one hundred percent cost-free and debt free.

WHO WE ARE
We are community members and leaders who work for social justice. We stand in solidarity with activists protesting oppression and demanding equity in this time of momentous change. We believe this moment holds unique potential. We also know that in this moment, we stand on the shoulders of elders and movements before us. Additionally, we know - because we have seen it happen - that potential can be lost or undone without leadership that organizes and focuses on systemic change.
